This is the very beginning of our live blog for the 2022 World Cup playoff between Portugal and Turkey. All of the updates will follow on below, with the ones nearest the top the most recent.

Portugal have defeated Turkey 3-1, doing their part in the very difficult Path C bracket. But, they won't actually face Italy. It's North Macedonia who they'll face in the final, which takes place on Tuesday.

That's it! Portugal are keeping their World Cup qualification hopes alive, with substitute Matheus Nunes finishing emphatically to make it 3-1 to the home side. Turkey put up a good fight, but it wasn't enough.

Portugal were let off the hook there and now they're looking to run the clock down as much as possible. They've made a triple change as they aim to see this one out.

Minute 83: TURKEY MISS A PENALTY!!!
The referee is called over the VAR monitor to check a foul on Enes Unal and he gives Turkey a penalty. But... Burak Yilmaz blasts his attempt over the crossbar. It's still 2-1 to Portugal, with the home side holding on.

Minute 74: Otavio heads just wide
Ooft. That was close from Portugal. Hometown hero Otavio has already scored one tonight and he comes close to another, but his header towards the far post drops just wide.

Minute 70: Twenty minutes for Portugal to hold on
Turkey have taken inspiration from their goal and they're really pushing for an equaliser. Enes Unal has come on too and they're making it difficult for Portugal to bring the ball out.

Minute 65: GOAL!!! TURKEY PULL ONE BACK!!!
It's 2-1 and game on. Burak Yilmaz has been Turkey's main threat all night and he collects a pass from Under and turns it in for the goal that gives the visitors hope. Let's see if they can get an equaliser.Diogo Jota has another chance, this time as the ball is cut back to him as he waits by the penalty spot. He tries a flying volley, but it bounces into the ground and then over the crossbar.

Minute 55: Jota tries to score into Cakr's open goal
As Cakr rushes out of his goal to try to collect a long Portuguese ball forward, he ends up in no man's land. That allows Diogo Jota to collect the ball and he tries to fire into the open goal, but he is too far out and can't manage.

Minute 51: A mistake and a recovery by Ozan Kabak
Ozan Kabak loses the ball just outside his own area, allowing Portugal to launch a very dangerous attack, but the centre-back gets back well and manages to cut out the move himself, making up for his error.

Minute 48: Chances for each team to start the half
Portugal have the first chance of the second half, with Bernardo Silva drawing a save from Cakr. Then, Turkey go up the other end and Yilmaz has a similar chance for Turkey.

Minute 46: Here we go for the second half!
It's time for the second half and there are no changes from either squad as we head into these next 45 minutes. If Turkey come back, then we'll go to extra time. But, Portugal will look to ensure that doesn't happen.
