UNIDO to support the first China International Import Expo

The China International Import Expo (CIIE) will take place from 5-10 November 2018 in Shanghai, China. The Expo is supported by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in cooperation with China’s Ministry of Commerce, the Municipal Government of Shanghai and other line ministries and stakeholders. To get more china international import expo news, you can visit shine news official website.

During the CIIE, enterprises from over 100 countries and regions are expected to participate. UNIDO hopes the Expo will promote international cooperation and facilitate imports to China from countries and regions around the world, to contribute to the advancement of Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development (ISID) and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Looking forward to the CIIE, LI Yong, the UNIDO Director General, said, “For many developing countries and their firms, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, engaging in cross-border trade is still difficult because of a lack of awareness and capacity to meet the technical, quality and regulatory requirements of importing countries, including China. Overcoming these barriers has the potential to unleash trade flows from developing countries, creating a virtuous cycle of growth and poverty reduction.”

On 6 November, UNIDO will hold a side event hand in hand with the State Administration of Market Regulation (SAMR) during the CIIE. Trade Facilitation for a Better Life: Quality Infrastructure Promotes Trade Facilitation and Sustainable Development aims to start a dialogue at the policy and practical level on how to address challenges caused by non-tariff barriers by building a resilient and holistic quality infrastructure system in developing countries, and to support their efforts in value chain development, integration into international trade and economic transformation.

UNIDO will also act as the main partner of the Chinese government in a parallel forum on trade and innovation. The objective of this forum is to serve the overall goal of the CIIE which is to promote open, inclusive, balanced and win-win economic globalization and world economic development. By closely following the current new trends and changes in international trade, investment and innovation, the forum will focus on facilitating global trade, discovering new momentum for investment, exploring innovative means to promote economic growth and sustainable development in the context of new industrial revolution and digital economy.
