I recently had my Worst day of pain after wisdom teeth removal , and while I expected some discomfort, nothing could have prepared me for the pain I felt on the second and third day post-surgery. The first day was manageable with painkillers and rest, but by the second day, the swelling had intensified, and the dull ache turned into sharp, throbbing pain that radiated to my ear and jaw.
I followed all the post-op instructions: soft foods, no straws, gentle rinsing, and plenty of rest. Still, the pain seemed to peak around 48–72 hours after the extraction. Sleeping was almost impossible, and even talking or opening my mouth became a challenge.
To anyone who's been through this—what helped you most during those worst days? Did your pain suddenly drop off after day three or gradually ease out? I'm looking for tips or reassurance from anyone who's made it through the worst of wisdom teeth recovery.
Also, how do you know if it’s just normal healing pain or something more serious like dry socket?
